Maybe you are not even a victim of this kind of preaching! Maybe you escape the truth that the word brings for fear of having to CHANGE your life, so you seek watered down preachers who meet your worldly standard. Examine yourself! Examine yourself! don't hide behind the excuse "they have other uplifting messages...for they will come as an angel of light and deceive many". You do not want to be surprised on that day. It's one thing to know Jesus, but does Jesus know you? And for you who are holding onto God with everything you got and preaching his Word, not false interpretation and emotion aimed at eliciting applause and fame, keep fighting the good fight and do not be discouraged for the bible warned about this...
The Word: I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
2 Thimoty 4: 1-5
Wow...Where did putting money on the altar come from? Is this something created by man? It is good to give tithes and offerings, the Bible tells us to tithe, but the value behind money is so shallow. It's soo easy to give money when we have the comofort and peace of mind that we will be getting more from a check in two weeks. The Bible speaks so much more about giving love to one another, giving ourselves completely to Him, and giving away our fleshly desires. If that was apart of what we would offer istead of money I wonder how many people would run up front to put those things on the altar. I also wonder how many times a year Pastors preach on that basis, as well as Salvation, rather than a sermon on finances and benefit. The book of Acts speaks about the church and how much they gave up for each other, but in this video giving offering is preached leading the people to give for selfish desires.
ReplyDeleteIt really puzzles me when i see stuff like this! like u said, its really consoling to give away your money when you have it in the back of your mind that you will get it back in a big fat check in two weeks. I mean it has come to a point where pastors are neither preaching the cross and dying to yourself daily nor loving one another and walking like Christ did because they want that constant inflow of money! It's really sad,and this makes me want to spread the WORD even more...
